Rabindra University is going to start today!
With the end of all speculation, Rabindranath Tagore's memorial of Sir Rabindranath Tagore, Sirajganj, will start the journey of Rabindra University Bangladesh on Tuesday, 17 April, on the historic Mujibnagar Day.
Long-time meeting-rally, the struggle for the movement of the struggle, the dream of joy of joy between Sirajganj and Shahzadpuris due to the fulfillment of the dreams of Rabindra University. In May 2010, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took an initiative to establish the University of Rabindranath at the Rabindra Jubilee ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Dhaka. After the announcement, Kushtia and Shahjadpur people demanded the establishment of a university in their area. With the establishment of Islamic University in Kushtia, the decision was taken to establish Shahjadpur in the region. The members of the government high level delegation, after observing various places of Shahjadpur several times, decided to set up a place for establishing a university in Rabindranath's own graveyard land in Buri Potjia Mauza of the upazila. Three hundred acres of land will be handed over to Rabindra University authorities from this place.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the Rabindran University Bangladesh at the national festival of Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary of 25 Boishakh Shahjadpur. On 26 July 2016, a law was passed in the National Parliament called 'Rabindra University Bangladesh'.
Biswajit Ghosh, Chief Professor of Arts Faculty of Dhaka University, was appointed Vice-Chancellor on 11 June, 2017. As Vice-Chancellor, he joined on 15 June. After joining, the Vice Chancellor started all the activities including recruitment of the university's manpower. In the middle of the month, the process of handing over the recruitment of teachers, recruitment of students and the construction of infrastructure.
One hundred acres of land has been set for building infrastructure. But the land was not handed over yet. Although handed over, infrastructure will be created in a fast time through the tender. Until the construction of the infrastructure, the non-free education program will continue in the academic buildings of three colleges.
